Jovial Mecca is a Special Counsel at HWMA Law Firm, where he advises on corporate law, land and property law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and commercial and criminal litigation, in addition to corporate and debt restructuring matters. His practical, commercially driven approach to complex corporate and property transactions, which often sit at the intersection of regulatory compliance, commercial pressure, and dispute resolution, makes him a trusted advisor to boards of directors, senior management, and leading Indonesian business groups.
Before returning to private legal practice, Jovial served as Corporate Secretary and Corporate Director at an Indonesian public company, leading the company's legal, human capital, corporate governance, compliance, corporate secretarial, and stakeholder relations functions. He also played a key role in establishing the company's transportation business, overseeing its legal function through its early stages of growth.
In the land and property sector, Jovial has built extensive experience through his involvement in large-scale real estate and integrated township developments, supporting strategic corporate transactions valued from hundreds of billions of rupiah to approximately IDR 1.2 trillion, spanning the entire development cycle from land acquisition and fundraising to project execution and regulatory compliance. His broader expertise extends to mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial contracts, construction, transportation, and dispute resolution, advising leading Indonesian business groups on joint operation arrangements, foreign investment transactions, licensing, and legal due diligence.
Beyond his transactional practice, Jovial advises companies navigating complex legal and business challenges. Working closely with boards of directors, management, shareholders, and creditors, he has implemented practical legal solutions through corporate and debt restructuring, governance enhancement, and dispute resolution, with an approach centered on preserving business continuity and supporting sound business decision-making.
